A bit more about our story.
When Pennsylvania schools shut down in March 2020 for COVID-19, Rachael sent Drew a simple message…
An idea was born. Initially, we hadn’t considered scaling this beyond the scope of just teaching Quinn & Hayden. Accordingly, we didn’t record the first 3 lessons (China/Japan/Taiwan). Then, family & friends who knew about the project encouraged us to record the lessons. We agreed, thinking the videos could be fun memories to revisit in the future. We shared the first couple of videos privately with 10-15 family members & close friends, which prompted lots of "they're so cute" comments (no surprises there), as well as the question "can I send this to my coworkers with kids?" This question piqued our curiosity of what would happen if we made the videos public and gave them a little outward push. Will others find value in this? Perhaps. Perhaps not. Maybe it'll just bring value to our immediate circles. But maybe those circles are wider than we suspect. If there's potential for a wider positive impact we wouldn't want to deny the possible goodness that could result from sharing. We presented the idea to Quinn & Hayden to see how they'd feel about making the videos available publicly so that other kids can also learn and enjoy the lessons. They were on board. So, with Quinn & Hayden's permission, Rachael and I began to upload videos on YouTube and will continue to do so. We hope you find value! |
